Different companies will often produce their chains at varying
lengths, but these are the standard silver necklace and chain
lengths. They are for the average-sized neck; for larger necks,
choose one size up.

For just a general rule of thumb, the most stylish necklace
chain would be two sizes, minimum, above your neck measurement.
So for your own standard silver necklace and chain lengths,
use a measuring tape to find how many inches around your neck
is, then add 2 to four inches to that. This will of course
depend upon what the necklace will hold and where you want
it to lay. Longer chains work best with pendants, crosses,
or medallions.
